folks, i wanted to let you know that i just posted the last "official" update to the PRC site.

at some point i was still thinking of preparing a long speech for saying goodbye, but considering what the game has turned into, i'm not even going to bother.

i'll leave it at saying that i have learned even the much laughed at 2D UO engine has greater potential for fun and unique game experiences, to an extent that OSI/EA never even acknowledged or built on. i have also come to realize that much of that potential could have been used for greater game enhancements than the last three official expansions offered.

however, the game and you people are separate things, so one last time i want to express my thanks to all of you who have been part of this at one point or another over the last five years. if it hadn't been for you, there would only have been mordanna the tamer, but not the great community that the PRC guild and this forum once were, and of course the stratics tamer forum in its good days.

i'll leave this forum open for a while longer, but considering how little it has been used recently, don't count on it for too long. anyone who would like to stay in touch, please feel free to PM, ICQ or email me.

anyone who would like to make a contribution to keeping the PRC site at least somewhat updated, please do feel free to send me detailed descriptions and i will make the necessary updates, complete with credits for the submitter.

Mordanna, although I can't help to feel very sorry to hear about this, it doesn't surprise me at all. In a way I felt it coming. I've been lurking constantly and seen how the posting and replys have come to a minimum.

I personally still play UO from time to time but I have to say that in GL not having our regular guild meetings, has turned the game into just some sort of distraction from the everyday stress. I miss Lessa, Ithy, Luna, Moose, and particularly Kyber. I guess its a matter of time before I leave too (one more expansion like the last one should do it).

I want to thank you for all your effort and enthusiasm during all this years in making the UO Taming community and specially PRC what it was: Friendship, camaradery, and a vastful source of taming information.

Thanks again for everything and I wish you luck in every one of your future proyects in life.

*hugs*

Farewell smirk

Actually a reply to a thread like this deserves more words .. but wise people are better at such words.. its like i'd look for words to say and stumble.. but..

There are great tamers.. and mediocre tamers.. i'd be in the last category but at least i can pride myself in having met ingame some of the great ones.. people like you (as Lone Star as well as Mordanna) and Elyssar (as Elyssia and other Europa chars.. and the pacific one.. what was the name.. rode a ki-rin when ki-rin were rarer than now..)

The great ones are an inspiration to ideals that one strive to pursue but at times others fail to fully follow.. perhaps its a little of circumstance but mostly its those little personality quirks.. a willingness to share in the knowledge, a friendliness.. an idea of where they wish things to progress..

I dunno.. what tamers saw little of what you are will miss you.. even if what we saw was but a shadow of what you were

I cant really be wordy enough to say what i want to say but..

I guess the essence is 'thank you for the time and effort you have given, here and on tamer forum' or something along those lines.. as empty as those words may be

Although we don't agree on what was good about UO i have to say that i think UO died a long time ago. The taming community is all but gone and the game just isn't fun anymore. I don't even know why i'm keeping my last account open...
Actually i thought you'd quit ages ago

Mordy I been trying to sum up all that I wanted to say to you for a few days now and there is just so much I want to say. I will try to sum it up without writing my usual book

I knew this was coming for along while now although you always hope one of these expansions will bring back the old UO;/ You my dear friend are a UO legend and for the taming community, a God.

You have given so much of your time and RL not just creating the awesome info on PRC website but working with the old devs, Stratics, staying on top of everything taming related and for the taming community.

You were and will always be a inspiration to the different Rangers Councils, how I miss the days when we had so many on different shards up and growing strong but no matter which shard and which RC, you were the "mother" of them all.

Your devotion for the UO taming community for the past several years is something that will go down in history, forgotten you will never be my friend.

From the bottom of my heart I thank you for all you have ever given and done, there will always only be one Mordanna of Pacific, and you should be very proud of all the great things and roads you opened for every single UO tamer in the game.

You truly are a legend Mordy and I am so proud to call you my friend:)

I love you gal *hugs*

Well I didn't get to know you personally but it's always sad thing to see good people leaving. PRC's taming information page was one of the first ones I ever saw (when I tried to find info about taming in 2002) .. and well.. it's very very useful page indeed! Thank you for that.

I'm sure you are one of the greatest tamers of all time in UO history. Good luck to you and best wishes , whatever you do in the future.

Hi Mordy,
It has been quite some time since we have last talked and I actually have not been back to this forum in at least a year or two - so how strange timing it is to make a visit and see this post.

I know that you have been disenchanted with UO for many years now. While many of us "old timers" have tried to adapt to each change (be it good, bad, or just plain ridiculous) as it came, I too have to admit that the early years were the best.

I am an old beta player and was beginning to loose interest in UO until I discovered taming. I began doing all the research I could and that was how I ended up here and eventually joined the PRC (with your sponsorship - thank you). I will always appreciate the way that I was welcomed with open arms and for all the help that was given to me. Hopefully I was able to give something back in return. I don't play much UO nowadays although my son tends to play my tamer often - especially when he needs gold.

I still remember fondly (and frustratingly) our first trip to The Gauntlet. We were the only ones there and I think it took us 3+ hours to kill the Dark Father - with many "I was killed by a XXXX!!!" messages along the way. I finally resorted to just Earthquaking the thing to death. All the while, running for my life.

Another fond memory was when we all did our first Champ Spawn. If I remember correctly it was the one outside of Papua. When we got to the Champ, we had no idea what to expect and when she started throwing her webs around, we were dropping like flies (excuse the pun). I actually got my first +20 PS that day and it was EI!! The only EI one I have ever gotten.

Lastly, I remember some 1+ hour taming attempts on Firesteeds when they were first introduced. While sometimes frustrating, the great comraderie was always what made those trips great.

Those were the most fun times - doing something that almost no one had ever done. In this day and age of gate huggers, spawn raiders, etc. There are very few experiences like those any more.

I wish you all the best in your RL adventures. Thanks for all you have given to UO and the taming community.

Hmm hmm, goodbye is such a nasty word .. *thinks that must have been a song .. Eagles? .. arf can't remember* .. I already feel so bad about not being on ICQ anymore. Since its not working at work anymore I rarly get on and usually at home I tend to forget about it or am inside SWG which I'm still playing and enjoying as it gets better and better imo with its recent patches .. and would love to have you and everyone else here but I know ...

I still remember (probably every die-hard ERC/PRC'ler will do forever) our guild times. It was such a good time (most of the time ) we had in UO.

But in the end I hope and I think it's not a Goodbye as I hope and I think you're not pulling the plug out of your computer Even though it became quiet (hey, after all I'm Mr. Quiet by nature ) I still call everyone friend

Talk to you soon .. 'er or later .. I won't promise .. it's just me .. arf ... *nails note-to-self on the wall*

Didi

edit: "Reged: 29/05/2002" .. really that long ago already .. jez ..

So Sad...... I left UO a few years back, and after having played the gambit of games out there always knowing it was missing something...taming. I reactivated an old account having given away my main to a guildie along time ago on atlantic.

Well with the 8th age, I got the advanced character, and of course made a tamer... got my first drake last night and hit GM in magery a few minutes ago.

Im hopin there might be some folks left still playing on pacific, since its my new home. If anyone is out there say hello... my characters name is Tolbin... guildless and looking to meet other nice adult acting folks to hang around with.

Hope to see some of ya's soon

deryk,

I recently returned to the Pacific shard after about a two year break. Feel free to look for me. I recently joined an rp guild and have enjoyed some of the new changes to the game. I'm still really frustrated with the armor and weapons properties though. Why did OSI have to make things so complicated?

While I haven't played UO in years, I just wanted to pop in and say Thank you Mordanna for your leadership in the realm of UO taming over the years.

I am proud to say that I was once a small part of the Pacific Rangers Council a little while before way back when.

Them was some great times and my hat is off to both you and Panther.

Hey you!

I just stopped in to see what you were up to and see that you have left UO (yay! :P).

Anyway, best of luck to you in your future endeavors, and if you ever decide to give WoW a try, let me know

Take care Mordanna!

I'd ICQ you Mordy, but I haven't used ICQ in years.

My AIM is LLJKDirt though if you ever use it.

Sucks about UO and all though. I try not to think about how much they ruined a great game. Just remember all the good times folks(HK Tamers! Nightmares! Staying up for 35 hours for the server to come back up, etc). They can't change all your good memories from the old days laugh

Hey, nice to hear from you after so long!

I don't use AIM (it never worked well on Miranda for me) but do use MSN and Yahoo Messenger.

Email me - it's still mordanna at mordanna.com! smile
